A single A4 page, landscape so it lies open beside an exercise book, on one topic rather than one unit. Each sheet leads with its photographs and explains them, which is the difference between a mat and an organiser turned on its side: the picture is the entry point, not the heading.

Questions
How is a topic explainer different from a knowledge organiser?
Shape, and when it is used. An organiser is portrait, sold by key stage, one sheet per unit, and revised from after the teaching. An explainer is one landscape A4 page on one topic, led by its photographs rather than its headings, and meant to be on the desk while the work is happening. Departments that buy both use them at opposite ends of a unit.
Where do the photographs come from, and can I photocopy the sheet?
Yes — photocopy it for your classes freely. Every image is a real archival or scientific photograph, and each one was checked against its own licence template rather than a label: they are either public domain worldwide or licensed CC BY, which permits commercial and classroom use. The running foot names every creator, states that the images have been cropped and adjusted for print, and links the licence. That foot is what keeps the sheet compliant, so keep it on the page when you print.
Are any of the images AI-generated?
None. Not one person, place or event on these sheets is an AI image, and nothing is a drawn substitute where a genuine photograph exists — that was the point of building them. Where a mechanism is clearer as a diagram than as a photograph, it is drawn, and the sheet says so.
Which exam board is this for?
All of them. The geography sheets name the three specifications that set the topic — AQA 8035, Pearson Edexcel B 1GB0 and OCR B J384 — because the codes are what a department checks, and the history sheets name the period. Nothing on any sheet is reproduced from a past paper, a mark scheme, an examiner report or a specification, and Empower Educators is not affiliated with any awarding body.
Is it really only one page?
One page, and that is the format rather than a limitation — a mat that runs to two sheets stops being a mat. The selection is the work: what earns a place on the page is what a top-band answer turns on, and the preview is watermarked precisely because a clean single page is the whole product.
