About
About Empower Educators
Written inside a school, not a consultancy. This is who, and why.
Fifteen years in education
I have taught in mainstream schools, in international schools, in a special needs school, and in Pupil Referral Units. I have done it as a classroom teacher, as a head of department, as a middle leader, and in senior leadership.
That is the background everything on this site is checked against: what happens in a real department, on a real timetable, with the time a teacher actually has.
Read before it goes on sale
Nothing here is one person’s opinion, typed up and sold. Anything written for English, mathematics or science is read before it goes on sale by the serving head of that department. Senior leaders read across the subjects as well. They are all still in schools, still marking, still running departments. If something does not hold up, it does not go on the site.
The colleagues who read the work before it goes on sale are not named here, and nor are their schools. Their reading is a check, not an endorsement, and I have not asked them to lend their names to something I sell. What other educators say about the resources, under their own names, is on the evidence page.
Where the figures come from
The numbers in these resources are traced to the publication they came from, and quoted in place instead of summarised: the Department for Education, Ofsted, Ofqual, JCQ, or the awarding body itself. If I cannot source a figure, it does not go in.
Nothing is reproduced from a past paper, a mark scheme or an examiner report, and no candidate’s script appears anywhere. Practice questions are written to the Department for Education’s subject content, the document the boards build their specifications on. Empower Educators is not affiliated with any awarding body.
