Key stage 3 mathematics, sequenced

Year 7 · Year 8 · Year 9 · 18 units in all

Six half-termly units an academic year, one row per lesson rather than a page per lesson. Each year is written backwards from what the next one states it assumes on entry, so Year 7 ends where Year 8 needs it to start and nothing is taught twice by accident. Every unit maps to the statutory programme of study.

Year 7 6 units

  1. 1a Sequences, Notation and Equivalence
  2. 1b Place Value and Directed Number
  3. 2a Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
  4. 2b Expressions and Solving Equations
  5. 3a Ratio and Proportion
  6. 3b Lines, Angles and Data

Year 8 6 units

  1. 1a Proportional Reasoning: Rates and Change
  2. 1b Linear Relationships and Graphs
  3. 2a Indices, Primes and the Structure of Number
  4. 2b Area, Volume and Surface Area
  5. 3a Probability
  6. 3b Algebraic Manipulation: Brackets and Factorising

Year 9 6 units

  1. 1a Algebra: Rearranging, Inequalities and Simultaneous
  2. 1b Pythagoras and Trigonometry
  3. 2a Percentages, Growth and Financial Mathematics
  4. 2b Statistics: Comparing Distributions
  5. 3a Transformations, Congruence and Similarity
  6. 3b Reasoning, Proof and Multi-step Problems

Year 7 Mathematics

Six half-termly units across one academic year. Algebraic thinking opens the year deliberately, directed number precedes fractions, and equations come after both. Each unit states the prerequisite it cannot run without.

  1. 1a Sequences, Notation and Equivalence
  2. 1b Place Value and Directed Number
  3. 2a Fractions, Decimals and Percentages
  4. 2b Expressions and Solving Equations
  5. 3a Ratio and Proportion
  6. 3b Lines, Angles and Data

Cover of Year 8 Mathematics

Mathematics · Key Stage 3 £3.99

Year 8 Mathematics

Six half-termly units across one academic year, written backwards from Year 9 and forwards from Year 7. Probability appears here, as Year 7's coverage note promised, with fractions a year old.

  1. 1a Proportional Reasoning: Rates and Change
  2. 1b Linear Relationships and Graphs
  3. 2a Indices, Primes and the Structure of Number
  4. 2b Area, Volume and Surface Area
  5. 3a Probability

Cover of Year 9 Mathematics

Mathematics · Key Stage 3 £3.99

Year 9 Mathematics

Six half-termly units across one academic year, forming the bridge to GCSE. Every demand a GCSE course makes on day one — algebraic fluency, trigonometry, financial mathematics, comparing distributions, similarity and sustained reasoning — is met here first, without grades attached.

  1. 1a Algebra: Rearranging, Inequalities and Simultaneous
  2. 1b Pythagoras and Trigonometry
  3. 2a Percentages, Growth and Financial Mathematics
  4. 2b Statistics: Comparing Distributions
  5. 3a Transformations, Congruence and Similarity
  6. 3b Reasoning, Proof and Multi-step Problems
