Year 10 Physics
Scheme of Work

Sixty-three pages, board-neutral, written for combined science and separate physics together. Twenty of the seventy-seven statements are separate physics only — and they cluster, so moments, fluid pressure and everything about waves at a boundary are marked rather than woven in. Every Higher-tier statement is named in the unit that teaches it, including the two that look like core content and are not. Six figures, six printable diagnostics, and an equations page separating the nineteen to recall from the nine given in the examination.

  1. 1aEnergy: Stores, Transfers and Efficiency
  2. 1bThe Particle Model of Matter
  3. 2aElectricity: Current, Circuits and Safety
  4. 2bForces, Pressure and Moments
  5. 3aForces and Motion: Graphs, Newton's Laws and Stopping
  6. 3bWaves in Matter

Cover of Year 10 Physics Scheme of Work

Ten sections per unit, in the same order every time. Phases rather than single lessons, because science is timetabled at around three hours a week.

Year 10 is the mechanical world — energy, matter, electricity, force and motion, and waves travelling through matter. Year 11 takes fields, light and the universe. That division is why energy opens the book and the electromagnetic spectrum does not appear in it at all.

Physics carries the largest separate-only share of the three sciences, and the largest mathematical one: eighteen of the seventy-seven statements are mathematical skills. Both are set out unit by unit rather than left for a department to discover in March.
