Years 10 and 11·GCSE schemes of work

GCSE Physics scheme of work

For heads of department and GCSE physics teachers

Both GCSE years planned as one course: the Year 10 Physics Scheme of Work and the Year 11 Physics Scheme of Work, 65 to 71 pages a book, £4.99 each or £7.99 for the pair. The course is written for combined science and separate physics together. The first eight pages of each book open on its own page.

Board-neutral. Both books are planned from the Department for Education’s GCSE subject content, which AQA, OCR and Pearson Edexcel each have to cover however they order it.

The two years, unit by unit

Year 10

  1. 1a Energy: Stores, Transfers and Efficiency
  2. 1b The Particle Model of Matter
  3. 2a Electricity: Current, Circuits and Safety
  4. 2b Forces, Pressure and Moments
  5. 3a Forces and Motion: Graphs, Newton’s Laws and Stopping
  6. 3b Waves in Matter

Year 11

  1. 1a Light and the Electromagnetic Spectrum
  2. 1b Magnetism and Electromagnetism
  3. 2a The Nuclear Atom, Radioactive Decay and Half-life
  4. 2b Nuclear Energy, Radiation in Use and the Universe
  5. 3a Final Preparation: Diagnosis, Technique and the Whole Course

Year 10 Physics Scheme of Work

Sixty-five pages, board-neutral, written for combined science and separate physics together. Twenty of the seventy-seven statements are separate physics only — and they cluster, so moments, fluid pressure and everything about waves at a boundary are marked rather than woven in. Every Higher-tier statement is named in the unit that teaches it, including the two that look like core content and are not. Six figures, six printable diagnostics, and an equations page separating the nineteen to recall from the nine given in the examination.

Year 11 Physics Scheme of Work

Seventy-one pages completing the two-year course. Year 10 was the mechanical world; this is what cannot be touched — light and the electromagnetic spectrum, magnetic fields, the inside of the atom, and the universe. The remaining forty-six of the subject content’s one hundred and twenty-three statements are taught here, each mapped to the phase that teaches it. Seven figures, an equations page dividing the nineteen relationships to recall from the nine supplied, and eight named joints back to Year 10.
