For heads of department and GCSE biology teachers

Both GCSE years planned as one course: the Year 10 Biology Scheme of Work and the Year 11 Biology Scheme of Work, 63 to 65 pages a book, £4.99 each or £7.99 for the pair. The course is written for combined science and separate biology together. The first eight pages of each book open on its own page.

Board-neutral. Both books are planned from the Department for Education’s GCSE subject content, which AQA, OCR and Pearson Edexcel each have to cover however they order it.

The combined content is a subset of the separate content — checked statement by statement against both DfE documents — so the nineteen statements combined classes do not need are marked, and one book serves both routes. Year 11 Biology Scheme of Work

Sixty-five pages completing the two-year course. Year 10 was the organism; this is the population — the genome, inheritance, selection, ecosystems, and feeding a growing population out of them. The remaining fifty-two of the subject content’s one hundred and forty-three statements are taught here, and every one is mapped to the phase that teaches it. Seventeen separate-only statements are marked, the fifth half-term teaches no new content so it can be spent on diagnosis and technique, and the tiering page carries the arithmetic most departments never see.
