GCSE PE Knowledge Mat — Health & Performance (PDF)

You can name every training principle and still fail the practical — so why doesn't knowing automatically mean doing? Physical, emotional and social well-being, each defined rather than listed, and what a sedentary lifestyle actually costs: obesity, coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and isolation. Then energy, diet and hydration — what carbohydrate, protein and fat each do, why even mild dehydration slows a performer, and a drawn figure that redraws one pair of bars at three ratios to show energy balance. Then the grade: one team activity, one individual, one either, and Ofqual's 60/40 split with 30% for the performance and 10% for a task the regulator never names. A band on what genuinely varies by board, ten terms, a worked eligibility check, and the misconceptions that cost marks.

Cover of Three Sports, One Grade

One landscape A4 page on one part of the GCSE Physical Education course, anchored to the DfE's own subject content (DFE-00697-2014) and Ofqual's subject level conditions (Ofqual/21/6724) rather than a board's paraphrase — so it holds whichever specification a department follows. It carries the three parts of well-being and the cost of a sedentary lifestyle, energy use, diet, nutrition and hydration, the practical requirement in the DfE's own words, and the 60/40 split with what sits inside the 40 — then the vocabulary, a worked eligibility check, and the misconceptions that cost marks.

This is the sheet carrying the assessment structure, so it is the one where a board-specific claim would do most damage. The ten per cent task is called an analysis of a performance on some specifications and a personal exercise programme on another; Ofqual names neither, so neither is stated here as the truth. Nothing is reproduced from a past paper, a textbook or a specification.

Sold by subject: all four Physical Education sheets for one price. A knowledge organiser stores a unit and is revised from afterwards; this is meant to be on the table while the lesson is happening.

    Written to
The DfE GCSE physical education subject content (DFE-00697-2014) and Ofqual's subject level conditions (Ofqual/21/6724), quoted; no board's specification, mark scheme or past paper. Where something differs between boards the sheet says that it differs and checks each one, without quoting any of them
