Ten sections per unit, in the same order every time, so a teacher who learns the shape once knows all six. Phases rather than single lessons, because schools do not agree on how much time GCSE geography gets. The planning assumption is stated rather than hidden.
Three things run through the book. Geographical skills are named in the unit that teaches them rather than gathered into a skills unit, because they are a quarter of the qualification and cannot be revised at the end. Case studies are anchored in three countries returned to repeatedly, rather than accumulated one per topic. That is a direct answer to the commonest weakness in case-study teaching. And fieldwork is planned inside the units it investigates, with school-site alternatives for departments nowhere near a river or a coast.
