AQA GCSE History Assessment Objectives — Exam Prep
AQA 8145. Two papers, two hours each, 84 marks each, four sections of 40 marks — and AQA is the only one of the three that spreads interpretations across both papers, 10% on Paper 1 and 5% on Paper 2. That means no paper can be taught without source and interpretation work, which is a different curriculum problem from the one the other two boards set.

A working manual for a GCSE history department teaching AQA 8145, written to the specification and checked against it before release.
Ofqual sets the four objectives and the 35/35/15/15 split, so those are identical on every board. Where the marks sit is not, and in history the difference is larger than in any other subject in this range. Part One opens on that table rather than on content, and the placement is drawn as well as tabled — on a page where you can see at a glance which paper carries no source or interpretation marks at all.
Page two routes by reader: a classroom teacher, someone new to the department, a head of department and a line manager each get a named place to start. Everything after Part One is subject pedagogy that would be true whichever board you sat.
Every claim about this board resolves against this board's own specification before the book is built — including the command words, which are this specification's own. Only *Describe*, *Explain* and *Significance* appear in all three, which is why a resource written for another board can look right and ask for the wrong thing.
