GCSE Business Scheme of Work (SOW) — KS4 Year 11 PDF
Sixty pages completing the course, built on the same statutory floor: between the two books every requirement the Department places on every GCSE business specification is taught, and the build fails if one is not. Six units across thirty-four weeks, six purpose-drawn diagrams and thirteen back-matter tables. New content stops in March — the last fourteen weeks apply it and the last eight teach the examination itself, from the specification the class is entered for. The mock sits inside a unit rather than after it, so the fortnight that follows is teaching, not administration.

The companion to Year 10, and the coverage matrix at the back shows both years in one table. Fifteen of the Department’s forty-seven requirements are deliberately taught in both, because a requirement met once in October of Year 10 and never revisited is covered on paper and gone by June.
Year 11 is weighted towards judgement on purpose. Analysis and evaluation is thirty per cent of every paper, it is where candidates most often lose marks, and it is the only one of the three objectives that cannot be improved by learning more content. The assessment-objective grid at the back makes the case in the boards’ own figures: AO3 is worth 15% of the qualification on every paper set by AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas, and 14–16% on both of OCR’s. There is no paper on which judgement can be traded for recall.
Command words are taught here rather than in Year 10, once, from the specification the class is entered for. Only Edexcel and OCR publish a list and the two lists differ — Edexcel defines thirteen words in its own taxonomy, OCR maps its words to the assessment objectives, and AQA and Eduqas publish none at all. Teaching a generic set for two years teaches a vocabulary some of the class will never be examined on, so the thinking under the words is built from the first week of Year 10 and the words themselves arrive six weeks before the paper.
The final phase is a programme rather than a revision list: three named knowledge gaps, two calculations and one answer shape per student, written from the department’s own mock evidence and closed with evidence.
