A Level Psychology
Scheme of Work

Fifty-two pages across two years, board-neutral by construction: every requirement comes from Appendix 4 of the DfE's shared science-and-psychology subject content, or from Ofqual's three assessment objectives for psychology. Unlike the three sciences it shares that document with, psychology carries no twelve-practicals requirement and no Practical Endorsement — and its assessment objectives swap places between AS and A level, where AO1 is largest at AS and AO3 at A level. How a board structures the required further depth varies sharply, and that variation is set out in one table rather than guessed at.

Cover of A Level Psychology Scheme of Work

Ten sections per unit, in the same order every time. The subject carries no required practical minimum and no Practical Endorsement, unlike the three sciences it shares its subject content document with — what it asks for instead is ethical, investigative activity, carried out but not certified.

Year 12 covers all five core areas and the whole of AS research methods. Year 13 reopens two of them as named approaches, adds issues and debates and inferential statistics, and extends two further core areas in depth — a department whose board structures that requirement as named optional topics should rebuild that unit around its own three, not relabel it.
